Sprite Cambrian

The Tre'pira Cambrian is a Polaris ship in Escape Velocity Nova. The Cambrian is one of four Polaris ships that can be purchased outside the Polaris Storyline, the others being the Sprite, Rebel Dragon and Dragon. This ship is unavailable for most of the Vell-os Storyline.

"This immense vessel is the Polaris counterpart to the Leviathan. Plying its way through hyperspace via massive Etheric Wave hyper-engines (mounted as part of its bio-organic skin in its nose and tail), the Cambrian transfers huge amounts of raw materials for the construction of new worlds and the upkeep of old ones. These ships are usually assigned to a particular caste for a period of twenty years or so before rotation, but these timetables are quite flexible, and reflect the Polaran distaste for inefficient bureaucracy." ― Buying a Cambrian

The Cambrian is a bulk freighter that is cost-effective for its capacity. As long as you know how to sneak into Polaris space, anyone can get one of these.

"The Tre'pira who is Tre'kimas (work master) of this ship is currently entertaining friends in his cabin, and invites you to join them. You are almost lost in the simple delights of human interaction, before your host remembers his duties, apologizes to his guests, and shows you about his beautiful Cambrian. This ship would make a fine addition to any cargo fleet." ― Hiring a Cambrian

Gameplay Analysis[]

Cambrian Shipyard

"The Polaris heavy freighter. Nice and big, these ships hold a lot of cargo." ― EVula Survival Guide

Cambrians are faster and more maneuverable than Leviathans (for whatever that's worth) and they are much cheaper. This makes them one of the best freighters in the game. Even the humblest of commodities can make hundreds of thousands of credits on a full load. Buying a full load of food and selling it high can make 115,500 credits. A Cambrian with six Cambrian escorts, using the 3-jump Opal trade route in Polaris territory (one shorter than the routes in Federation and Aurora territories), can make hundreds of millions of credits within a very short time. It's even faster with the Multi-Jump Organ.
