Common Abbreviations

Due to the length and complexity of some of the names in EV Nova, many abbreviations and acronyms have been created by the community. Some people do not understand these when first interacting with the community, so generally only a few common concepts are abbreviated to avoid confusion.

• AG Ashen Galaxy
• Assoc: Associated Guild of Free Traders
• Aur: Aurorans

B

• BRL: BioRelay Laser
• TBRL: Turreted BioRelay Laser

C

• Chaingun: Usually Hail Chaingun, though occasionally refers to Storm Chaingun
• CPL: Capacitor Pulse Laser
• CTC: Colosseum

E

• EV: Escape Velocity (series) or Escape Velocity (game)
• EVC: Escape Velocity Classic
• EVO: Escape Velocity Override
• EVN: Escape Velocity Nova

F

• Fed: Federation
• FPB: Fusion Pulse Battery
• FPC: Fusion Pulse Cannon
• FPT: Fusion Pulse Turret
• Fr. Trad: Free Traders

H

• HBT: Heavy Blaster Turret

I

• IPC: Ionic Particle Cannon

L

• LBT: Light Blaster Turret

M

• MC: Mission Computer
• MBT: Medium Blaster Turret
• Mod SB, MSB: Modified Starbridge "MSB" sometimes has a variant tacked on the end, such as MSBD for Modified Starbridge Class D. Additionally, the "SB" in "Mod SB" is also sometimes replaced with a variant, such as Mod E for the Class E.

N

• Nil'k, Nilk: Nil'kimas
• NMV: Federation Carrier, Non-Missile Variant

P

• Pir: Pirates
• Pol: Polaris
• PP: PlugPack. Nearly always has the version number after it, either as PP16, PPv17, or PPV18.
• PSB: Pirate Starbridge Sometimes has a variant tacked on the end, such as "PSBD" for Pirate Starbridge Class D.
• PV: Pirate Valkyrie Almost always seen with the variant tacked on the end, usually as "PVIV" in reference to the Class IV.

Q

• QLBT: Quad Light Blaster Turret

R

• RSB: Rebel Starbridge Sometimes has a variant tacked on the end, such as "RSBE", which is Rebel Starbridge Class E.
• RV: Rebel Valkyrie Almost always seen with the variant tacked on the end, usually as "RVV" in reference to the Class V.

S

• SB: Starbridge Sometimes has the variant tacked on the end, such as SBC, which is Starbridge Class C.
• Storm/Storms: Storm Chaingun

T

• TC: Total Conversion
• T-Forge: Thunderforge
• T-Head: Thunderhead Sometimes also for Thunderhead Lances, as in T-Head Lance.
• TTC: Teacup TC

• Valk: Valkyrie
