The F-29 Fed Anaconda is a Federation ship in Escape Velocity Nova. Unlike the Viper, the Anaconda does not appear in anything but military versions, as it is not intended for sale to the general public. In order to acquire an Anaconda, you either must have scouted Moash space for the Bureau, furthering their ambitions of controlling the Aurora Empire or disable and capture one.
"The main problem with the Viper as a fighter craft is a complete lack of any form of explosive projectile. A new variant that has the 'long distance kill' capacity, based on the Viper chassis, has been the Federation's choice of Space Superiority Fighter ever since. Although this ship, named the Anaconda, suffers from a slightly slower acceleration and top speed than the Viper, its ability to destroy enemy fighters before that fighter can get within gun range more than compensates." ― Buying an Anaconda
The Fed Anaconda is simply a slower and more heavily protected Fed Viper equipped with a sextet of IR Missiles to make a makeshift bomber. They can be fired from a carrier using the Anaconda Bay.
The Anaconda is the pilotable starship in an in-universe VR game named "Firebirds of Fury", which is played by Federation third-graders such as Charlie. The objective of the game is to destroy as many Aurorans as possible before dying. The game features realistic physics and simulates component damage on the Anaconda. Despite the game putting you up against escalating odds, it's still far easier than a real dogfight.
Stats[]
"If you're looking for long-range power projection, you can't really look much further than the Anaconda. A sweet little piece of work, you feel. This one has been through the wars, literally, but her pilot has a hardened look about him that inspires you with confidence." ― Hiring an Anaconda

Gameplay Analysis[]
"A bigger badder Viper, the Anaconda is a great Federation support ship. It is armed heavily enough that two or three will eliminate any slightly larger ships (such as a sloppy Starbridge pilot), but get gradually ineffective when it comes to heavier ships, especially Auroran ones with rail guns." ― EVula Survival Guide
The shipborne fighter version is a useful tool to dispatch small fighters such as the Aurora Firebird or make "bombing" runs with their IR Missiles. The Anaconda is comparable in strength to the Aurora Phoenix.
There's no reason to fly a Fed Anaconda over a Fed Scout Ship besides self-imposed challenge. The Scout Ship even has better availability.
One way to outfit an Anaconda is to buy 200 IR Missiles as player characters are not subject to the same logistical constraints as Federation fighter pilots.
Images[]
The Fed Anaconda was made by Scott Vardy who modeled the Fed Viper, then Dave Williams made the rest based on his original. Textures were by Phil and Steve Chick.
Appearance[]
The Anaconda is a reversed and reconfigured Fed Viper. The large wings are at the front and the small winglets are at the back. The large wings have missiles mounted at the wingtips.
Ship Spins[]
This ship has 36 frames per set and 3 sets for 108 frames in total. It banks when turning in one direction for a certain amount of time.
