Gameplay[]
"Again, the medium turret is a good choice for your warship. However, if you have a heavy ship like the Fed Carrier, you may want to save your cash and space for the heavy variety." ― EVula Survival Guide
These weapons have a fairly bulky size but cause far more damage than a Light Blaster Turret. They even have a faster fire rate. You should be wary of these while you travel the space-lanes. You'll most likely find them being used against you by Fed Destroyers. You can avoid their fire by either getting into the Destroyer's personal space (forcing it to retreat through standoff AI) or by hiding in it's rear blind spot. IDA Frigates have no such exploitable weaknesses, so Pirates beware.
Outfit[]

Medium Blaster Turret on a Destroyer
"The Medium Blaster really comes into its own when it becomes turreted. Combined with sophisticated Glenn:Cyber targeting scopes, these weapons score easy hits on all but the smallest space vessels. The Medium Blaster Turret does tend to lag a little on the faster capital ships. The IDA Frigate mounts two of these batteries as standard."
The Medium Blaster Turret is most commonly seen on Medium Warships such as the IDA Frigate, although it can be fitted on smaller ships. Unlike the Medium Blaster, the Turret is only found on medium-tech Federation, Rebel and Pirate worlds.
"And you can buy it here without a license, but you had better be wary of Federation scans..."
To acquire this weapon outside of Federation Bureaucracy, or perhaps simply to increase the maximum number of Medium Blaster Turrets you own while at the maximum number of legal blasters, you may purchase illegal versions on shady planets such as Altia, Simpson or Rimerta. The illegal version is x tons heavier than the legal version, which harms it's efficiency as a weapon some.
If you have this weapon installed while on amicable terms with the Federation, Federation Patrol craft such as the Fed Viper, or Fed Patrol Boats will attempt to scan you. When illegal outfits are discovered on your ship, a small legal penalty for smuggling follows and the Patrol craft will immediately attack you. These attacks might also rally the Federation's allies in the system to attack you, forcing you to leave the system in a hurry if you don't want to die or hemorrhage legal rating through self defense.
