The Olaf Greyshoulders Pirate Viper is a pirate ship in Escape Velocity Nova. This craft is unavailable for most of the Vell-os Storyline.
"As soon as Comara released the Viper frame on the general market, a few shiploads of frames were bought up by notorious pirate shipwright Olaf Greyshoulders. He and his crew have totally refitted the shell, and the familiar shape of its advanced armor plating hides a wealth of minor and major improvements to the basic idea. But, as with all Greyshoulders upgrades, there is a hefty price to pay for the improved model. It's up to you to decide whether it's worth it." ― Buying a Pirate Viper
The Pirate Viper is a racing sled that has been upgraded to make it generally more useful as a Privateer's craft. Note that this includes an expanded cargo bay, useful for commerce, illicit or not! It can be fired from a carrier using the Pirate Viper Bay. However, possession of such a bay may incur the displeasure of Federation patrol craft.
Stats[]
"The tall pirate that flies this ship is certainly confident of his worth, and that of his ship. «I've not had a single client unhappy with my work,» he says, a broad grin of perfect white teeth breaking out across his coffee face. «I personally guarantee satisfaction. So, do you want to talk credits, or is my price too steep for you?»" ― Hiring a Pirate Viper

Heavy Fighter Class #2 (#404)[]
Warning: shipvariant not found.

It's the Heavy Fighter Class but with a really inefficient mass retool.
It appears in two "advanced" düdes for the Pirates and Marauders. b8888 is activated when the player acquires a capable ship, so this shipvariant serves the purpose of filling up the galaxy with more fodder pirates when the player is ready.
Gameplay Analysis[]
"Heavier than most fighters, it's still a Viper. A few quick shots of your blasters should disable it, and allow you to resell it for a pretty little penny." ― EVula Survival Guide
Some consider the Pirate Viper to be an ideal upgrade to the Shuttle. Its stats are a direct upgrade in every single way and it's not too expensive.
The Pirate Viper is actually slower and less agile than the Comara Viper. However it is heavier, better protected, carries more cargo and has more fuel.
Images[]
The Pirate Viper was made by Scott Vardy who modeled the Fed Viper, then Dave Williams made the rest based on his original. Textures were by Phil and Steve Chick.
