The GLi-Tech RAGE Gunboat is a Federation ship in Escape Velocity Nova.

The hyperbolic 'General Equipment' refers to the fact that the Gunboat mounts Auroran FPC technology, and stolen Polaris wraithii material. The reactive armor plating is nearly impenetrable to lesser weapons, and the ship has outstanding speed and maneuverability for a vessel its size. The RAGE Gunboat works best in a tantrum. One RAGE can be a headache but three can take out a Aurora Carrier. The Bureau makes heavy use of this craft as a strike vessel and they ALWAYS send them in a tantrum.
If you fear the tantrum, just wait until they've wasted their ammunition. Like the Fed Destroyer before it, the RAGE becomes laughable when its missile stocks are depleted. Powerful ships like the Javelin have no need of such delaying tactics, however.
In the Rebel Storyline, there are two RAGEs defending Commander Krane when she travels in the Prodigal Son which can make her ship hard to board. Ionizing weapons such as Ion Cannons or Hellhound Missiles are very effective at neutralizing them.

The RAGE Gunboat was made by Dave Williams of ATMOS, who called it a silly little thing.
It was called the 'Rage Gunboat' for ages then someone typed RAGE and it had to be backronymed. It already had reactive armour so that was the start. Dave decided 'General Equipment' was the Bureau's euphemism for stolen Polaris technology.
