The Nil'kemorya Raven is a Polaris ship in Escape Velocity Nova. To purchase a Raven, you must have captured the powerful telepath Llyrell from his home on Earth. Also, your shareware trial must not have passed 30 days.
"This ship is a behemoth. Sliding through the ether with an ease that belies its enormous bulk, the Polaris Raven is a vision of glory and terror. It dwarfs the massive Scarab in both size and firepower; it is, simply put, the most powerful weapon humanity has ever constructed. The Raven utilizes twin Etheric Induction engines for sublight travel. These devices simply suck the fabric of space-time in the front, and squirt it out the back. If one of these engines should ever stop suddenly, the graviton effects would cause the momentary formation of a black hole." ― Buying a Raven
The Raven is the largest and most advanced ship in the galaxy. It has the best shields available and armour nearly as thick as that of an Auroran warship, but all of that is irrelevant before the incredible destruction wrought by its Multi-Torpedoes, which can destroy most warships in a single shot. Feel the power.
A Raven is fought at the conclusion of the Bureau Storyline. This is your punishment.
Stats[]
Untitled (#164)[]
Available in the shipyard.

|
This is the only Raven featuring 3 Pulse Lasers. The innate fuel generation should help with the passive fuel drain of the CPL.
Wild Variants[]
Shipvariant stat changes are relative to the stats of the basic model. The basic model is Untitled.
This shipvariant is unavailable in the shipyard and must be captured in the field.
Nil'kimas (#310)[]
Nil'kimas means 'war-master' in the Polaran tongue. It is a designation given to ships that demonstrate that their pilots understand that the best way to survive is to have top-of-the-line statistics and firepower.

This is the basic form of Iuso's Raven.
Cloak development begins[]
The following shipvariants have no cloaking organ despite appearing based on a cron related to cloaking devices.
Underarmed (#264)[]
Stats |
---|
|
This shipvariant features one less Pulse Laser and is unavailable in the shipyard.
Nil'kimas, uncloaking (#324)[]
Stats |

Identical to #310.
Cloaking Variants[]
As the game progresses, Ravens will carry Cloaking Organs.
Stat changes are relative to their non-cloaking counterparts.
Cloaking, mk0 (#263)[]
Stats |

|
While available in the shipyard, this shipvariant features one less Pulse Laser and a mark 0 cloak.
Cloaking, mk2 (#265)[]
Stats |
---|
|
This shipvariant features one less Pulse Laser and a mark 2 cloak, but it is unavailable in the shipyard.
Nil'kimas, cloaking mk0 (#323)[]
Stats |

This shipvariant has a mark 0 cloaking device.
Nil'kimas, cloaking mk2 (#325)[]
Stats |

This shipvariant has a mark 2 cloaking device.
Hyperspace Drifting Variants[]
As the game progresses, Ravens will carry Tunneling Organs alongside their Cloaking Organs. These Ravens also have Fire-While-Cloaked multi-torpedoes, just as a trifling note.
Stat changes are relative to their non-cloaking counterparts.
Cloak and Tunneling (#272)[]
Stats |

While available in the shipyard, this shipvariant has one less Pulse Laser.
Nil'kimas, cloak and tunneling (#330)[]

This is the ultimate obtainable Raven.
Nil'kimas, cloak and tunneling #2 (#406)[]
Stats |

This variant is identical to #330, but 5M cheaper. It's fought in Destroy Polaris Raven.
Nil'kimas, cloak, tunneling and inertia (#411)[]

This is the basic form of Jason Cook's Raven. It's the only Raven with inertia. As Cookie is invincible, you can't obtain this.
Gameplay Analysis[]
"Boo-yah. The Raven is a mighty ship, equipped with all sorts of cool toys for you to tear through enemy ships with. Another benefit of this ship is the fact that it has tons of expansion room. This is also an inertialess ship, which can take a little getting used to." ― EVula Survival Guide
Since the Raven is inertialess, its Pulse lazors are somewhat difficult to aim towards ships that you have passed. Merely turning towards your target will result in your ship passing them again due to your continued wake. Thus, a deceleration is required before turning your death gaze in their direction. Also, you cannot strafe or fly backwards while shooting meaning that it is difficult to keep your distance in a Raven.
Since it is so large and the beam firing point originates in front of the vessel, it is easy for small and nimble ships to get in places you cannot reach like your armpits. Turrets are necessary if protection from enemy fighters is desired: fast and small ships can easily get behind or on top of the Raven and be safe from its weaponry. Alternatively, Light Cannons can be equipped to lay down cover fire in the gap between the CPL firing point and the ship itself. Though the Raven itself is somewhat handicapped at fighter defense, it carries many wings of the most powerful starfighter in the game, the Manta. These easily grant sufficient fighter defence and can also lay enemy capitals to waste if you've both run out of fuel and Multi-torpedoes.
There is alternative setup that relies on Turreted BioRelay Lasers for fighter defense and Fire-While-Cloaked Polaron Torpedo Tubes and Polaron Multi-Torpedo Tubes to reduce the enemy to space debris without needing to de-cloak. This setup also utilizes shield upgrades to ensure maximum cloak time.
The most powerful Raven in the galaxy is Iuso's Raven, which can be found in the Ne'helipar system. It comes with five CPLs and the capability of carrying up to thirty Mantas. It also carries EMP Torpedoes. The most powerful Raven out of this galaxy is Jason Cook's Raven. You can often spot it in the Bloodstone system.
