Telepathic Strength exemplified by a Brain Blast

As the player progresses through the Vell-os storyline, he or she gradually becomes a stronger and stronger telepath. The level of his or her mental abilities is indicated by a Telepath rating, or T-rating for short. Normal humans are T6, and the scale continues with increasing mental abilities up to T1, and even to the fabled T0. The player's T-rating is indicated in the game by the use of ranks, but the associated abilities are given to the player by means of an invisible outfit granted at the same time. The effects of each T-rating outfit may be seen below.

Each T-rating gives an increasing addition to shields and shield recharge rate, and enables the acquisition of other abilities which replace the functionality of basic outfits. Later T-ratings give more jumps of energy.

In the Polaris storyline the pilot is granted T2 ranking upon choosing which of two factions to personally destroy: the Federation or the Aurorans. The player is not notified of this and does not gain the telepathic abilities associated with T2, such as the Vell-os Arrow.
