The telepathic Vell-os Dart is a Vell-os ship in Escape Velocity Nova. To obtain a Dart, you must have been taught how to travel by Llyrell. The ability to form a Dart is exhibited by telepaths ranked T3 or higher.
"When a Vell-os has completed his or her basic training in the psi arts, one of the first things they attempt to construct is the delicate Dart. Like all Vell-os 'ships', she is actually a pure psychic barrier that protects the Vell-os pilot within. It is perfectly formed for hyperspace travel (nearly matching the beautiful Wraith), and will remain intact as long as enough of the mental energy of the Vell-os remains." ― Dart description
The Vell-os Dart is a telepathic light starfighter with a strong fixed beam. It defies inertia. It can be fired from a carrier using your ability to divide your mind. This is an ability typically only exhibited by strong Vell-os ranked T2 or above.
As a telepathic construct, the Dart can't equip most outfits. Thus it relies upon the telepath's trained abilities in flight.
Stats[]
"The Vell-os who created this stunning machine smiles gently as he shows you how he can create such things. He closes his eyes for a moment, and a small cylinder field blinks into existence around him. «Truly,» he says, «it's not that hard.» You find yourself shaking your head at the abilities of these people." ― Hiring a Dart
You can't hire a Dart.

The innate fuel generation should help with the passive fuel drain of Vell-os weapons.
Pilotable Variant (#381)[]
The pilot can obtain a weaker version of the Dart that compensates for the improvements bestowed by Telepathic Strength.

You'll have 25 more shields and 15 more shield regeneration than the NPC/carried fighter version with T3 strength.
Gameplay Analysis[]

"One of the best fighters in the game, you would be well-advised to never pick a fight with a Dart. Speed is perhaps the best aspect of this ship, combined with it's much higher than average shields and a powerful (for a fighter) Flower of Spring. Javelins "carry" 3 on board." ― EVula Survival Guide
This vessel is one of the fastest in the game, second only to the Nil'kimas Manta. Coupled with the arsenal of psychic abilities a Vell-os has, this ship is one of the most dangerous fighters out there and is able to combat most things smaller than a capital ship. However, the active fuel drain of the Vellosian weaponry is taxing on a novice telepath and the Dart has little stamina.
The only outfit you can fill with the equipment space is two Marine Platoons. This gives you 50 crew, which should be good for capturing ships up to 25 crew. Consider Pirate Valkyries, Fed Patrol Boats and Leviathans as your targets.
Like all Vell-os ships, Darts are inertialess. This makes maintaining your distance difficult, but dodging projectiles very easy.
